WHO CAN ATTEND

Teens+ is for 11 – 15-year-olds with asperger’s, autism or general social difficulties, who are usually attending mainstream schooling.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE SESSION

Our facilitators focus on increasing social and communication skills through activities, games and discussions.

We aim to develop life skills, as well as skills needed for school (such as transitioning into high school), making friends, navigating through relationship challenges and teambuilding.

Working in groups, we strive to offer a 1:4 staff-to-participant ratio to support your teen but encourage teens to manage their own behaviours and independence within the group.

COST

The cost is $20 per session, however we do offer a 10-session concession card for $180.

• Sessions are transferrable across terms provided notice of absenteeism is given.
• We are an OSCAR-accredited organisation, which means sessions up until 7pm can be subsidised. Talk to your WINZ case manager for more information on this and the process.
• If you receive any financial assistance from the government specifically related to an autism diagnosis, for example Respite Carer Support, you may be able to claim the group expenses. Your funding provider can confirm whether this is possible.

WHEN

Teens+ runs on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings during term time. Please contact us for more information and we will do our best to work with you to find the most suitable group for your teen across the two groups.

PARENTS/CAREGIVERS

Parents/caregivers are welcome to stay for the first session, or until your teen is settled in. We then encourage you to leave your teen in our capable hands for the duration of the session.
