About McKenzie Centre
McKenzie Centre is a leading early intervention centre for children with special needs, aged birth to school age, and their whānau, in Hamilton. We provide a family-centred, play-based, trans-disciplinary service that helps children to realise their potential and supports the whole whānau. We are a passionate, innovative team of early intervention professionals, which includes Speech-Language Therapists, Physio and Occupational Therapists, Early Intervention Teachers, Peer Support Workers/Tuakana, consultant Psychologists and Education Support Workers.
About the role
We require an enthusiastic individual, to join our team of Education Support Workers (ESW).
This position will require you to support young children with disabilities in their regular early childhood settings, promote inclusion and participation in the early childhood environment and support the implementation of their individual goals.
This is a part-time role working during the school term only in early childhood centres. Days and hours of work will be discussed with the successful candidate.
Skills and experience
You will enjoy working and playing with children to encourage their learning and development. A qualification is not required however any training in Early Childhood Education or experience with children with disabilities will be an advantage. You will have good communication skills, be child and family focused and able to build effective and cooperative relationships. Empathy and an openness to new ideas is essential. You will also have a current driver’s licence.
